What gear does my child need to take riding lessons?
Students will need to purchase their own ASTM certified helmet, pair of riding gloves, and boots with a hard toe and 1 inch heel. Students must wear long pants. Riding pants or leggings are best.
Is there a chance my child will not pass the Evaluation?
During an evaluation we assess a child’s ability to process information and participate safely in a group riding lesson. Some children, although 6 years old, are not ready for the level of independence required to ride a horse safely.
How much do lessons cost?
Group lessons cost $70 for a 1.5-hour lesson.
Private lessons are $95 for a 1.5-hour lesson.
Semi-private lessons are $85 for a 1.5-hour lesson.
Can we purchase lessons outside the seasonal package?
Butler Equestrian takes great pride in having happy healthy horses available for our students. Part of that equation is managing their schedules to provide time for rest. Therefore we are unable to provide lessons outside of our seasonal lesson packages.
Do you offer trail rides or one time riding experiences?
Our students learn to ride both in an inclosed arena and out in the open fields and woods. We do not offer trail riding or one time riding experiences outside of our lesson program.
Do we have to join Pony Club?
Butler Equestrian uses the US Pony Club standards to teach all of our students. Students are not required to participate/belong to Pony Club to ride in our program.
Butler Equestrian Pony Club participates in Pony Club sanctioned activities within our Center as well as activities within our Region. Students do need to be members of Pony Club in order to participate in these activities.
Riders that wish to participate in Pony Club must join the organization and pay the yearly National and Regional dues.
